2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Review
Chevrolet continues to keep its mark in the car manufacturing world. The high-performance ZL1 variant of the company’s sixth generation Camaro muscle car for the 2017 model year has been launched. The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is being promoted by the company as a car with the best straight-line acceleration, track capability, refinement, and technology. While all of this sounds appealing it is better to go over some features of the car before you decide to lease or buy the sporty roadster.
The exterior of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has been designed for improved aerodynamics. The lower part of the grille has been opened offering far greater airflow compared to the Camaro SS. Also, a new version of the ‘flow-tie’ open bowtie insignia has been incorporated in the upper grille. The front splitter has also been enlarged. The front fenders have been widened. The car also has a wing-style rear spoiler to give it a race car look. It is available in two body styles: Two-door hard-top coupe, and Two-door soft-top convertible.
Upon entering the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 you’ll see the standard comfortable Recaro front seats that feature red stitching and the ZL1 badges. The interior also has plenty of metallic accents that add a bold look to the vehicle. The shift knob and the flat-bottom steering wheel are trimmed in microsuede. The seatbelts are also in red to match the overall inside and outside design.
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 offers a much more-powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making 640 pounds-feet torque and 640 hp. It also has a paddle-shift 10-speed automatic transmission. The car features an optional Performance Data Recorder, with a built-in camera. The GPS receiver, which comes with the recorder, allows for location-based track maps. The recorder logs videos of driving sessions, as well as real-time performance data, onto an SD memory card. The data can be viewed later to improve one’s driving techniques. Interestingly the car also is equipped with ‘Valet Mode’, which enables the driver to record video and data when someone else is driving. Very useful for those late night downtown hotel stops.
