While some car companies tried to enter the electric-vehicle (EV) market due to the 10-state ZEV or zero-emission-vehicle mandate many of them failed to deliver on their promises. Though by adding electric motors and batteries Volkswagen tried to make a proper effort themselves and we believe that we have something worthy here. The company’s refreshed 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf comes two years after the previous model. Let’s see what it has to offer.

The exterior hasn’t gone through drastic changes compared to the previous model. You’ll notice a C-shaped LED daytime-running-light strip. The 2017 Volkswagen also has new, sixteen-inch flush-looking aluminum wheels. The rear bumper has a chrome strip, making the fake exhaust portals stand out. It looks like Volkswagen decided to add them to make the car look sportier. But some EV-enthusiasts might not appreciate the vehicle having exhaust portals at all, even fake ones.

Inside the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf, you will find an 8.0-inch center infotainment display. The 12.3-inch Digital Cockpit instrument-cluster display is included in the full-zoot Driver Assistance package offered for the SEL Premium trim. All of the buttons are easy to access. The seats are comfortable and spacious enough for five passengers. The front seats are adjustable. For increased cargo space, the back seats and be folded.

The 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf is able to cover 125 miles of range from a lithium-ion battery pack without it being heavier than the previous models which gave around 80 miles. However, the company isn’t offering battery upgrades to owners of the previous model. It comes in three trim levels. We have the SE, the SEL Premium, and a Limited Edition. The 7.2-kW onboard charger is standard for all three trims. It’ll take only six hours for the battery to be recharged. The DC fast charger is an option for SE and is standard for both Limited Edition and SEL Premium trims, offering 80% of recharge in one hour.

The vehicle also has standard Match Edition specs. It also has two-zone climate control, e-vehicle programmed sat-nav, and all-round parking sensors. You will also get a 3-year subscription to Car Net, an iPhone, and Android app. It allows you to remotely check as well as control climate control, charging status, and driving data.
