2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class Review
Intro
Even the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class has been marketed as an SUV, car enthusiasts would argue that it’s more of a sports-oriented hatchback which tends to have an increased ride height. The iconic company seems to have updated a few things for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. Let’s see what changes were made and what they offer.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class has been given a refresh, even though it can be considered a subtle one at best. You’ll notice LED headlamps (optional) flanking the restyled grille. It also features crossbars with rectangular punctures. The front bumper has also been updated and the fog lamps have become more prominent. Furthermore, the LED taillights have been revised along with the wheel design.
Interior
The previous 7.0-inch infotainment system has now changed to 8.0-inches. Also, the door panels and center console now feature additional chrome brightwork. The gray-faced units found in the 2017 model have been replaced by more legible black-faced gauges.
The front seats are comfortable. You can increase the comfort by opting for the optional sports seats. However, the same can’t be said for the capacity in the rear seats. There’s a good chance that passengers in the rear might feel a bit cramped during a long journey. While the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class can fit five passengers, it isn’t roomy. You can also opt for a panoramic sunroof but that’ll just end up decreasing the overall headroom inside the vehicle.
Features
The backup camera has been made standard in the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. A quick wave of your foot, under the bumper, will open or close the power rear liftgate. Take note that you need the key fob with you to do so. Android Auto connectivity is also present. There’s also a DSR or Downhill Speed Regulation button. There’s also the Active Brake Assist System. You’ll also get eight airbags for safety. The Active Lane Keeping Assist is optional. Furthermore, the Distance Pilot Distronic will automatically keep a specific distance to any other vehicle that might be in front of you. There’s also an optional off-road comfort suspension package that will increase the vehicle’s ride height by 1.2 inches.
